In developing worlds, every few years the percentage of users having access to broadband is doubling. Years ago it would be impossible to have a good conversation with someone over the internet because not everyone had broadband internet. Learning English online (Skype) takes out the overhead of constantly going to one’s place, or someone coming to you eliminating the need to travel. Sometimes it is beneficial to know two languages, but it is not mandatory. However, it is rare to find a job posted in Spanish, or to see anything other than English as a requirement. Spanish by far is the second widely spoken language in America because of people coming from Latin backgrounds. However, it is still essential to know English as a primary language to find work. Now in America, a lot of languages are spoken because of the influx of immigrants, and English not being their mother tongue. They’re doing this to communicate with other Engineers in one language without the use of translations. In Japan, companies such as Honda are switching to English as their official language. Other parts such as Montreal, English is widely spoken as you don’t even have to know French! This goes for getting a job too. Only in Quebec, Canada you will find people speaking French. In Canada most people speak English even though French is the official second language. Almost everyone you talk to, their second language is English.
